Rev. Dr. George Goebel left an indelible mark on Christ Church Des Plaines during his tenure as pastor from 1919 to 1945. A true scholar, he dedicated his life to serving Christ with unwavering commitment and passion.
Nurtured by an academic environment at Elmhurst College (now University), Dr. Goebel’s intellectual depth enriched his ministry and the broader denomination through his various contributions.
Upon his well-deserved retirement in 1945, the congregation gave him Emeritus status in recognition of his exceptional service. Following his passing, the church established the George Goebel Scholarship Fund as a tribute to his legacy of scholarship and dedication.
